I’m a linguist. Words are all arbitrary. The definitions and the words themselves are all made up and they change. I’m just laying out the way language and argument work, which is not how you are attempting to use them. Your response is a good example of a bad faith argument.

Countdown to shutdown is imminent! Not like we did not go through this recently and I did not give people suggestions on what to do (walk away/ignore, if I can do it surely most of you can too)

Good to know, apparently I've been speaking the English language incorrectly for 40 years.

Sure, slang and society tweak words here and there. Calling a girl "hot" obviously isn't referring to her body temp. I get that.

But the basic definitions of words haven't changed. Love still means love, affection still means affection and anthropomorphism still means anthropomorphism. Maybe it's not the words or definitions that change, but the way they're used or perceived may change. But we can't just reinvent the dictionary and all the words in it.

Your words (like "delusional", "unhealthy" & suggesting that the OP talks "with someone about it", as well as "extreme anthropomorphism") are insulting & designed to hurt the OP & make you somehow feel superior & right ("someone who works in medicine"...well :bow:...:rolleyes:). SO WHAT if someone is anthropomorphic? Last time I checked, it's not a crime, is it? Nor is it in any way abnormal for any human to have a connection with a pet, such that IF "in the unfortunate case that something happens to [it]..." that person would be very upset...any more than the way we suffer losses of human pals too. Just because you don't like someone's perspective is no reason to keep trolling this member. I find it sad for this once-friendly forum, & more a reflection on you than on her.
