New Female Jungle Carpet Python! :D

I did leave the mouse overnight and took it out in the morning. Sorry for not clarifying. I think the blood was from her biting the mouse but maybe I'm wrong. I cleaned the tub in the morning too, so I don't think that she was in feeding mode. She's definitely interested because she does coil and constrict and then try and find the head. Are you sure that I should wait 1-2 weeks to feed again? Thanks.

My bad Danya. I may have missed some of the details. If any of my snakes refuse a meal I make them wait at least a week or two before offering again. In the winter I only offer food every 4-6 weeks and if they miss a meal they have to wait until the next feeding cycle. I want them to be extra hungry, and hopefully more inclined to eat, the next time they see food. A few weeks off feed is nothing. They can go for months without food sometimes. My albino carpet was kind of hard to get going with food when I first got her. She'd take a meal and then go 3-4 weeks without eating again. Once I started only offering food every 3 weeks she started eating more consistently. After she was on track I started feeding her a little more often. Now she eats whenever/whatever I feed her.

Great news everyone! Wednesday night I tried feeding her again and this time she ate it without a problem! What's weird is that she hasn't went into her warm hide and instead is just sleeping on her perch. I'm really happy that she ate and I'll start handling her tomorrow(maybe)! Thanks.

Keep in mind that nothing is engraved in stone.

My two JCPs have different behavior habits.

Esmarelda never used a hide at all until I installed a Skyhide. But she mostly will perch or coil in her water bowl.

Sundance will not use his Skyhide or any other hide. He spends most of the time on the ground or in the water bowl with minimal perching.

Every now and then both will seek out a heat source after eating, but not usually.

I just try to provide options and let them do their thing. :)

Great to know! I've never actually seen her use any of her hides. She prefers to be at the highest point of her tub. Thanks!

Quick little update on the handling. Everything went quite well to my surprise. This time I just let her sit on her hook while it was in my hands and let her make all the decisions. She was actively moving around the hook and she did move around my hand a little bit without striking or coiling. I put her back into her tub and it was done. Really glad it went well. :)
