It’s a good looking animal, and I think you’re right not rushing. I think maybe they could of tired of the animal? You can see they’re not caring for it properly, and probably not feeding it right either. It’s a hard call. It’s always best to think it though.

I’m sure it’s a fine critter but if I do get another Suriname I’d like something that would be a good mate for Leonard. Also, $200 just sounds a little too good of a deal to be true or worth rolling the dice.
If I don’t get another Suri then maybe a Guyana or a BCO. Peruvian BCC are awesome, but maybe a bit large for me. BCO might be a bit big for that matter but I’m not rushing into anything right now

Big? You got the Godzilla of Kalatoa retics lol. It would take 10+ years for a Peruvian to get big. And to be honest, if i see a boa over 10 feet, i am pretty amazed. You see lots of people claiming to have 'big boas' but they magically shrink next to a tape measure....just like manhood in a cold pool lol. I personally wouldnt be put off by the 'claimed' size of a boa.

You can always go for something like a Brazilian BCC or a Venezuelan BCC but if it is a really red tail you are after, cant really beat a suriname for that.

True, but a boa that length would be as big as a loaf of bread and weigh 40-50lbs hahah!
Those Brazilian BCC are awesome. There’s something appealing about a big, dark BCO though. Ziggys new critter really opened my eyes to how unique those snakes are.

Well you can also go for an IMG BCI. They get really black....but also cost a kidney lol. Or yeah, you could go for a BCO. Lots of options.

Could also look into a GTP. They come in all sorts of colors and imo are pretty easy to care for and dont get huge. Heck even a big adult will be content eating adult mice their whole life. Only downside is USCBB ones tend to be kind of expensive.

Just a thought on her price, most of the adult boas I see on CL around here are in the $100-$250 range, regardless of locality. Most folks want to start with neonates or yearlings at best, so full grown adults are harder to sell. Years ago I had gotten a few adult Bci for free, three from people who knew me and were downsizing their collection, but a couple through the local Trading Post (hard copy paper like today’s CL) whose owners no longer wanted them.

I was thinking that if you did say goodbye to Phyllis that the new mansion cage would be perfect for a BC. This is a nice looking boa, if you don't care about tracing locality for breeding reasons, then it's an amazing deal! I agree that her temprement may be a bit willy simply because there are no out of cage pics and the state of the cage but it's a boa and most can be calmed down over time anyways (but it could also be - fresh shed snake in a nice pose, so snapped pics, I've done that before). It would mostly come down to you - would you like raising a little one up and seeing how it turns out or jump right in to a nice adult and go from there.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

I'm rooting for that boa, if jmcrook gets her, then her luck will change and she'll have a good life from now on.

I snoozed for too long on her and just checked to see that the posting has been taken down. Hope that girl went to a good home though
