Speaking of different, how does one "fast" for 7 days a week? And not to dispute your health claims but maybe you're just "lucky"? I had a friend many years ago
that liked fasting too, but he died of cancer...discovered when he went for his flight physical & it progressed very rapidly. Many doctors do not think fasting is good
for us and I remain unconvinced, even if it seems to make you "feel" great.
I fast 19 hours each week day and 16 hours Sat and Sundays ..
So I have an evening snack at 9pm then fast until the following day at 5pm ... big meal at 5pm then little snacks all evening - last snack at 9pm . I eat around 2000 calories in each daily 5 hour window.
Weekend I fast from 9pm overnight and start eating again between 12 noon and 1 pm ..

Re: Happy 4th, America
The 'theory' of fasting is that by not eating a minimum of 12 hours - it supposedly gives your body / organs / cells time to repair / renew / regenerate/ rejuvenate.
A good example is all those binge drinkers who go crazy Friday , Sat and even Sunday evenings then drink nothing for 4 or 5 days and the liver just repairs itself in time for the weekend..
If they just kept drinking day after day they'd be dead or at best very poorly ...

I'm glad you clarified what you mean by 'fasting', Zincubus, as the amount of time that people abstain from eating varies widely, some for much longer intervals.
What you're doing makes some sense, though not for me & I've never "dieted" in my life either ("diets" don't seem to work anyway, for those trying to lose wt.).

My understanding was that the liver is the only organ in the body that rejuvenated itself.
I'm finding this interesting, but being that I've worked with food my whole adult life I'm not capable of fasting. I eat when I'm hungry,, hahahaha.

Your cells are being replaced constantly 24/7 .. 365.25 [emoji4]
With the usual way as soon as you break fast in the morning that starts the process off .. eating - digesting .. hunger again .. eating ..digesting .. hunger and so on .. I simply delay the start of the cycle ... then eat a days worth of food in 4 to 5 hours .
As regards the hunger .. after 3 days without a breakfast your brain and body learn not too expect it and you just don't get hunger pangs ...... after a few weeks of no breakfast I cut out dinners the same way .. same result - no hunger pangs ..
The crazy thing is you wake up with loads of energy and the energy levels stay the same ALL day .. without food .. no ups and downs or afternoon lethargy after lunch - just a couple of coffees around noon .. loads of water throughout the day of course .
Best not get too boring .
It's not a new fangled fad ... it's been going successfully for thousands of years ..
Anyone interested Google '16/8 fasting' or the next level '20/4 fasting' ...
Some top elite athletes are getting great improvements through this kind of fasting ... its the future :)

I know it all seems crazily ridiculous but after 2 years of doing it I know it works .. my only regrets is not knowing about it in my 20's ..
I read somewhere that in Britain we only started eating breakfasts in the 1900's .. people just didn't do it ..
It only went crazily popular around 1950's when Kellogg's were struggling badly and they got some high flying advertising guy into save their asse ..
He apparently came up with the famous slogan ...
" breakfast , the most important meal of the day ! "
And so it began :)

Well, eating a day's worth of food in 4-5 hours is still NOT for everyone...myself included, but it's interesting & I'm glad it works for you.
I can well imagine that employers would LOVE to promote this, so they can get away with giving employees fewer breaks...

There are sooo many benefits apart from the ones I mentioned..
You don't spend time buying / planning / preparing/ eating breakfasts ( and dinners in my case ) So much extra time in the day..

Well, my typical breakfast is a handful of walnuts and a few cherries or other fruit, or a greek yogurt, or a hard-boiled egg...not exactly time-consuming, LOL.
I haven't been a fan of "traditional breakfast foods" for many years. The typical carb breakfast (donuts, toast or cereal) leaves you ravenous pretty quickly, and
the version with fried eggs & bacon+++ is enough to weigh you down & into a coma. I'm not above eating non-traditional foods for breakfast when not in a hurry
or swimming: I love a big bowl of cooked spinach, broccoli or kale & sweet corn, plus something for protein. Now & then I even make french toast.
I also enjoy food enough to fuss with enchiladas, turkey/chicken/Cornish game hens, pizza, stuffed peppers, spaghetti, pasta salad, tostadas, burgers & sandwiches.
I "save time" by making deliberate "leftovers", & for anyone trying not to gain weight, it's helpful to eat things you love but with some repetition, so you eat for your
actual hunger instead of the novelty. When you eat out a lot or eat something different every day, most of us tend to eat too much, being a little too "food focused".
I've always focused on eating "mostly" healthy stuff, & there are ways to make what you LIKE so it's good for you too. I do eat deserts, but I don't live on them
either. And all this talk is making me hungry...;) dinner time!
