Herpstat or rheostat?

I use a rheostat with my Che.

However...if Taylor gave you solid advice I would take it. She is the bomb digity.

A rheostat may work, but it's not as effective as an actual thermostat. If you want to talk about comprehension, go comprehend the difference in how a rheostat works versus a thermostat. Then after you're done with that, comprehend the pros and cons of both as well as the risk.

Another thing to keep in mind, a Rheostat is essentially a variable potentiometer and if it fails, it breaks the circuit and you will lose all heat; it wont go full blast and get too hot.

I have yet to see one fail during use, much less go "full blast" & I can assure all of you that in 33 years of keeping more snakes than I can count, I have never over-heated even one, & my snakes tend to live long healthy lives. As I said earlier, the only rheos I've seen "fail" were maybe 2 that were jostled during moving & failed to come on at all...obviously a loose connection.

I am not discouraging anyone from using thermostats though...that's not what I said either.
