about 2 months now, i just got her able to eat about 2 weeks ago, will only touch live, and I moved her to rats instead of mice for the extra nutrients rats give.

fun fact: there is almost no nutritional difference between rats and mice! :gj: some people might say mice have more fat, or rats have more protein, but the reality of it is: we actually don't know which is better for the snake! there have been no studies on captive python dietary recommendations, so we can only guess.

rats are preferred because they're bigger, and it's cheaper to feed one appropriately-sized rat than multiple mice. it's also less taxing on the snake's body to digest only one thing.

congrats on getting her to eat!!! once she's looking healthy, you can try and make the switch. tho don't derail her current progress until she's heavy enough to miss some meals.

it sucks you learned that the hard way, but thankfully you're doing right by her. :) of course none of us like those big chain stores, but we never chastise anyone for getting their snakes from them.

i look forward to watching her progress!

I raised so much hell to the store, they wound up reimbursing me 100% for the vet appointments, covage feedings, everything then said they would accept a return. As if id give this poor girl back to them to be mistreated and die. if you want to subscribe to this post ill be posting regular updates of her recovering :)
