I have noticed the "strike from hide" activity as well. Seems their preferred ambush kill. All this is why I prefer to feed live. it has always been easier for me just to toss a live rodent in there and wait for the "thump". No heating a corpse up, dangling it around by tongs and hoping not to scare your snake by your own looming presence.

Those two were munching down on thawed frozen mice that had been warmed up with a hairdryer- I was just illustrating how easy it was ... :)
