taped to the bottom of the enclosure and resting on the styrofoam. so you have an Enclosure, UTH, probe, styrofoam sandwich.

there's ways to remedy the bump issue if you're still concerned, however. is your enclosure raised off of whatever it's on? you could get two blocks of styrofoam for the enclosure to sit on and cut a channel into the one on the hot side for the probe to rest in. you could also tape the probe wire to the underside of the UTH (facing the floor), but you can't tape the probe head itself.

Hi, just wondering about not applying tape directly to probe, what is the reason? I have mine taped to underside of mat right now, getting good temps..

Spyder Robotics Herpstat user manuals specifically state to not cover the probe head due to possible inaccurate readings. if the best thermostats on the market cannot have the probe head covered, then i'm not taking chances on a lesser thermostat.

Thanks for speedy reply. I'm just wondering what the difference is between putting it in styrofoam groove and using tape. Both are kind of insulating it, maybe tape more than foam. Just want to understand if I should change it since it's working great right now.

i use cheaper styrofoam which is less insulating than better options. as long as some of the heat can escape, then it will be better than not allowing any of it to escape.

you can try to make adjustments, because it will be better in the long-run, but if you can't find a way to make it work for you then stick with what you know. [emoji4]
