I always take her in every year since I've gotten her lol, my vet just examines her physically, weighs her, checks inside her mouth, cloaca. She also uses a stethoscope for her heart and lungs.

I hope they don't charge you much for it. That's all things you can do yourself. Ive only taken one snake to the vet. My GTP right after I got him. He was sold to me with a RI. Thankfully he recovered and has been happy and healthy since.

Vets really bother me with all their little fees. Anything to get another buck. That's one thing I really love about my snakes. They are historically healthy animals that don't need yearly shots and vaccines.

My vet tries to push the flu shot for my dogs and gave me a strange look when I laughed and said I don't get a flu shot so my dogs surely aren't. Well, I don't get a flu shot but since I had to board my pups with them they have because its mandatory before the vet will board them. I was in a pinch so I did it. Two dogs getting $40something dollar flu shots is ridiculous to me.

Yeah I agree it's ridiculous but I always feel that a vet knows better than me and is better at pinpointing if there is an issue. Athena had a RI before too and my vet was awful with prescribing me with crap, I ended up just fixing it myself with Vix treatments and reptaid, she got over it so quickly compared to how she was on those antibiotics. I just panic with Athena Everytime something is off in the slightest. I do my absolute best to take care of her, I monitor her heat and humidity daily. Even after all this I've switched her Eco earth to paper towel... I don't know what else I can do to keep her routinely healthy. She's been eating large rats once a week. Otherwise she's been an over all healthy animal.

Before and after ughhhh, but if it means a healthier snake I don't care how it looks. Ignore the little wet spots on her paper towel it was from the moss

Why take out the Eco Earth? It looked really great.

    Oh.

I like Eco Earth but though it a bit of a pain by itself. I use a mix of Eco Earth, Repti Bark, and Cypress Mulch. I mix it to the desired appearance in a large tub I have. Then I can easily dish it out when needed. It has a natural look with all the best features of each kind of substrate.

You tank looks really nice. I can tell you really take good care of your snake.

I was thinking that the scale discoloration may come from the substrate. Especially if there are really moist areas that the snake lays in inside the enclosure. Good idea putting her on paper towels.
