Why do you prefer sliding Neal? Just curious.

Cause with the APCages you have 3 options:

    1.) Sliding Glass
    2.) Sliding Acrylic
    3.) Swinging Acrylic

Acrylic can scratch easy, plus the glass is cheaper. I have a T8 with glass doors, then I have a t3 with glass doors. I also have a T3 with swinging doors, only because of the snakes I keep in the swinging door T3.

Gotcha. Sliding it will be. Didn't realize the swinging doors only came in acrylic, though it does make sense.

Yea. I have no experience in cutting glass or even if it's possible to get smooth edged corners and to drill holes for the brackets, but when I'm going to call around after I sort some other things out to see if I can find somebody to do that.

thank you both for your insight! it does feel like i'd be getting more from the T8. i have my ball in a mesh-top now but it's been covered in saran wrap since i got it to maintain humidity lol. trying to cut corners always seems to bite you in the end. :P looks like i'll probably end up getting the sliding glass.

But yeah, it's long overdue for him.

thanks for your insight. if you don't mind some questions since i'm not familiar with the product: how does a UTH/thermostat work with the T8/APCages? and what size UTH would you recommend for the T8? ty in advance!

    Anytime.

Okay, so heat tape and UTH are based off the same principal. They warm the bottom of the enclosure to create a hot spot. However, UTH can get way way hotter than heat tape. Also with heat tape it's way cheaper. When you order a T8, the guy makes a slot on each side so if you use heat tape, you simply put a thermostat in the slot that you tape on the heat tape. That regulates your temperature. That way it doesn't get to hot and you don't end up harming the animal. I would go with heat tape for your T8. I would say it's absolutely necessary to put your heat tape on a thermostat, though I don't believe it gets as hot as an UTH will unregulated, it can still get over 100 degrees. You can get heat tape from reptilebasics, I think they use THG if I'm not mistaken. You just buy the amount you want, likely a foot long and have them install the connections for you.

There is also an option for them to add heat tape to your T-8 when ordering.
