As a kid I was always on the bottom of the totem pole and got picked on by all the other kids, so I think I felt some need to defend the misunderstood animals of the world. But that said, snakes are also completely gorgeous and amazing. The variety of adaptations they have in order to thrive in such a wide variety of habitats without any limbs is just so cool.
And the ease of care is certainly a factor, too. I got my first snakes as a teenager, when my parents were divorced and I went back and forth between their houses. The fact that it wasn't a problem to only be able to care for them every other day was a factor in being able to convince my parents to let me have them (although my sister did have a chinchilla and a hamster, and my dad didn't really mind checking up on them when we weren't around). It made it easy for my mom to look after them during my freshman year of college when I couldn't bring them into the dorm, and reasonably easy to convince landlords to let me have them after that, since they don't chew or have dander or pee on the carpet or bark, etc. And now, I appreciate that it's not a big deal when I go out of town, cleaning is easy and infrequent, etc.

And all practical considerations aside, I just love their little faces. :)

I have been keeping ball pythons for only a few years, and just last year gave life to E.B. Ball Pythons. At first, like so many others, it was the wild paint jobs and the fun genetics that drew me in. The more I get into it though, the more excited I get opening my animal's tubs, whether I'm providing them with their normal care, see them sitting on a pile of freshly laid eggs, or am getting ready to send one off to a new home. Not to mention all of the incredible people I've gotten the chance to meet and learn from both here and in the larger community. I seriously geek out about these guys and can easily spend hours on end (at all hours of the day/night) planning, thinking, and talking about what's yet to come. On top of that, I've been lucky to learn that there really isn't a better feeling than when one of my animals provides those same inspirational moments for one of my customers. There isn't one aspect of this that I'm not passionate about and put in the effort for to make sure it keeps rolling.

    Best regards,
    Eric

Best reply yet. ... I wish you didn't live like six states away! Lol :/

I don't even know you that well yet, we haven't even spoken. But you give me inspiration. Your spare bedroom that you maintain by yourself, the passion for these animals that you have. Your kindness and willingness to communicate. It's top notch bro. You've earned a devout customer.
