Hey guys,
Just wanted to update on how he's doing. The wound looks VERY good now after his last shed a few days ago. He's quickly became a favorite of mine. I don't handle him longer than I have to, just enough to treat the wound, but when he is out he is super curious and fearless. He will even let me pet his head.
So, now my concern has shifted from getting the burn under control and healing nicely to getting him to eat. I have not been in a hurry to get him to eat because of the wound, but since it's been on the verge of healed I've offered him a few smaller meals. He was strictly on live before (hoping to switch him), so I tried a small live rat which he refused. I tried prekilled some days later, he refused. I set a f/t rat outside his cage for a while for him to smell, made sure it was nice and warm, and he still refused.
I'll give him some more time to heal up and get feeling better then I'll attempt it again. Normally I know it's not a major deal for a bp to go off feed for a bit, but with him battling this burn I would like to get some needed nutrition in him.
