Re: Yingarna the Bredli
Ying shed, but wouldn't cooperate with getting pictures outside of her cage last night - all I got was a brown and white blur. :) But I did catch her this morning, looking mildly derpy.

Re: Yingarna the Bredli
Poor Ying, she had a very bad day.
I looked around the house to find something to use for a replacement perch, and came up with a bucket I use as a trash can in my leather workshop. A little help from Comrade Dremel, the shop-vac, and a damp paper towel, and Voila! New perch/cave.
Coaxed Ying off her fallen tree (which she was stubbornly still perching on), replaced it with the bucket, and put her back in. Nope, sulking.

Off to my guitar lesson. Came back, still sulking, on her Magnaturals vine and RHP cord.

Ate my dinner, and looked again. Sulking! But moved to keep an eye on what was going on.
At human-bedtime - welllllll, maybe the cave part is ok...

Came downstairs this morning, and found her on top of the bucket (which is under the RHP), and one end of her vine in the water bowl, so she presumably got dumped when it let go at some point in the night. Put the vine back up, she went to sulk behind the bucket.
Discovered a smelly fresh mess under the vine, and when I reached in to clean it up, she struck at me. Given her bad day I just kept her back with a hook while I cleaned it up (which she didn't argue with, I think the strike was mostly cranky bluff).
By the time I was ready to leave for work she was back on the bucket. Hopefully she's through sulking soon.

Re: Yingarna the Bredli
Ying looks great after her shed Prog. I'm sure she'll get used to the new bucket perch soon. :)

Yingarna the Bredli
Ying got to visit the great big outside world this afternoon while my husband put the light in her new (-ish) cage. She's a good 6' long, and over a kilogram now (1050+ gm). I think she may be in the very early stage of going blue - looking just a little dusty, and I think her eyes are a little pale.

Re: Yingarna the Bredli
Yesterday Ying stretched out almost straight, and we were able to get a length - 6' 6"! And no wimp. She goes where she wants to go, mostly.
Fortunately, she's also calming as she matures, except she's still very head-shy. Silly girl will jump if she bumps her own snoot into something.
I've been alternating medium rats and day-old chicks weekly, I'm thinking it's getting time to go with small rats, or to stretch the time out between feedings. I don't think she's overweight, but I think her growth is probably slowing down (need to get her in the scale again).

Re: Yingarna the Bredli
@ Prog- If she was 1050g in June she's probably 1300g+ now. I'd probably keep her on mediums but increase the time between feedings to every 10-14 days. My male jungle is a year old, about 1200g, and he's eating a medium rat , or a medium and a chick, every 7-10 days. My male coastal is two y/o, roughly 1550g, and he's' eating a large rat every 10-14 days even though he's been on a fast the last few weeks. Of all my carpets it seems like my Bredli seems to be growing at the slowest pace.

Thanks, Ziggy, always helpful to get a second opinion.

Re: Yingarna the Bredli
Finally got a nice day and time, so I got Ying back outside again. She's so pretty and iridescent. I know she's at least 7' now, but haven't gotten a good length estimate lately. And her head is getting big. She's so head-shy it's challenging to get a picture of my hand near her head for comparison, but I tried. Top rail of the porch is a 2x4, and I wear a medium man's glove, for size reference.
