:O I know people always say make sure to clean it really good when a cat scratches you etc. I'm one of those who was raised being told "to rub some dirt in it" (for those of you not familiar with the phrase its just a figure of speech basically meaning man up, suck it up). My arms are literally covered in scars (mostly old) from my first cat who liked to play rough and from when kittens don't know any better to keep their claws in yet. There have been a couple times where the scratches were actually pretty deep or large. As many times as I've been scratched, hundreds if not thousands, I've never had one get really infected. Sure the redness for a day or two just like if you get a paper cut and don't put anything on it. Thinking about it, it makes sense for their claws to have a lot of bacteria because they use litterboxes. Never realized how serious it was.

I don't think it is an issue for most people, as I too have been cat scratched more times than I can count. I think a few just react worse to it than others. And I grew up old school too, drank out of the hose, never washed my hands unless mom made me, and funnily enough I'm still here to laugh about it.

How did the Cat Scratch issues turn out? I hope everything turned out ok.
