I haven't kept many pythons over the years, probably just 2-3 species other than what I currently own - largely been boas and colubrids for me. The pythons of Australia(and their neighbor island, New Guinea) have definitely captured my heart though.

    Just one thing
people say that jungles will always be more snappy than other snakes from threads i've read its not true but then you read care sheets and they say they will always be more snappy can you please tell me because Ever since I got my second snake I have ALWAYS wanted a jungle but i currently own a spotted python(big mistake) and i cant even move my arm across its enclosure without it thinking i'm food and I've tried to handle but it latches onto my arm and then lets go and tries to escape and i feel terrible because i cant do much for it.

How old is your spotted python?

It depends on your jungle. Baby jungles are nippy (most baby snakes besides BP's are actually!). However, when my yearling bites he still doesn't break skin nor does it hurt at all. After about the year mark, they should begin to grow out of it, assuming you're following through with regular handling. But yeah, the "snappiness" is mostly just in younger snakes. That's just the average, your individual jungle could go either way though. Maybe he's forever friendly or forever nippy! Mine is actually a lot less nippy than most yearlings I've seen, but he'll still have a go at me from time to time.

Jungles are worthy snakes to have, in my opinion. As babies they're in the "oh no everything wants to eat me" phase so they are defensive. However, they're very active and make great display snakes as they don't spend all their time hiding and will come out to nap right in the open. They're also semi-arboreal so you'll see them make use of everything you have in their enclosures. Of course they're also gorgeous.... :)

Is the spotted your first snake?
