Thanks for identify with the shedding on the belly, I'll have to give him a look to see!
This name picking is so hard! Lol my other hobbies besides pets are trucks/cars and shooting (guns) so I'm trying get a name from that lol. I was thinking possibly Ruger but trying think of others.
Good deal. Doing a full cleaning could add to stress or make your snake want to investigate and explore because things may be different. I always try to do my cleaning a day or two before feed night.
You also mentioned feeding in the morning. I have always had the best luck feeding in the dark at night.
BTW, my snakes don't have names...never have.

That's exactly why I would clean during feeding so that way when he came back to his "home" things maybe a little different so he would investigate and explore so I thought it be fun, but I can see how it'll stress him. I will also try the feeding at night part, he is more active at night obviously so I'll do that.

The best thing for a snake that just ate is to retreat to its warm hide to digest in peace. If a snake gets to stressed or feels like it may need to evade predator it can regurgitate the meal which will be super nasty and can be very problematic.

I have never used aspen but I will tell you what I do with cypress.
Any time my snake releases waste I remove all the substrate on, under, and around it and remove it all. I then clean the bottom of the tank and replace the lost substrate with fresh. I take a good amount each time so its kinda like a revolving substrate cycle. It is constantly being tossed and replaced but I hardly even throw it all away at one time. This is in a 40 gallon tank with substrate as deep as 2-3 inches since I have real plants in it.
Now in my tubs I will toss the entire amount when I clean them after being soiled. They hold far less and they have blood pythons in them which release an amazing amount when the decided to go.

My local Petco has them. They have both tropical and arid plants but I don't know what kind they are.
