It is very difficult to bring across the proper tone inflection of your words when you are typing. This is why very often people think that what they are reading is an attack on them or might be a little harsh toward them. Usually it ends up being a misinterpretation or misunderstanding.

Yes, this place has always been far more helpful than most other herp forums to be found online. Something still to be proud of. And I will credit the harder tone to text-based speech rather than verbal communication. Drop in age is to be expected I suppose as younger people find a love in snakes...I was there once :D
