    Basically the issue here is not about snake feeding, or snakes at all for that matter. It is that your mother in law has some serious mental illness. I would suggest a psychiatrist.

    If she is threatening to destroy things from suspecting you have a scale in the house, then I can only imagine all the other daily things which may set her off. Please make sure all your animals and family members are safe.
