My albino was 73 grams when I got him back in August. I have never fed him anything smaller than a rat pup. He is now almost 300. Your choice to starve him though :P

Forget it guys...she's decided. She thinks she knows best. Just like the Tstat thread. My 84g albino eats rat chubs no problem.

It can be really hard to find rats in Alberta considering the ban, but I will ask at my local petstore. I'm not even sure it's legal.

Sometimes I have a feeling that people like this are being intentionally contrary for trolling purposes, but may very well be accepting the advice behind the scenes... Or maybe just pure trolling.

Look guys, I'm not trolling. I haven't even tried to cause any drama, you guys did that yourselves.

Then I can only implore you to take the advice of members here. They are here to help, not hurt. One member helped me get my BP husbandry fixed to get my guy eating when he wouldn't. Now, he is eating voraciously and is about to go into blue.

I think we can all see where this is going.... Can someone please get this horse some water already?
On a side note, none of mine have had a mouse in my care and the smallest I had bought was 58 g...

To be honest I feed my youngsters on mice because it is quite hard to get a reliable source of the right size of rats.

If it was used to feeding on mice already there really is no problem keeping it on mice. And I know rats can be hard to source reliably in Canada at times because they are prohibited.

I do, however, start them on half grown mice as even straight out of the egg they can deal with them at that size.

My youngin is on mice right now because he will NOT accept f/t and I can't find a reliable source of live rats at the size he needs. When he grows a bit more, I will revisit switching him to rats, perhaps even f/t. But he was very skinny coming home from the pet store, so it was important to me to get him to eat. Even if he becomes a mouser, that's OK, I'm prepared for that. He is the only snake I am going to have so it's not THAT big of a deal.
