Won't work. The first time they need to make a claim regarding the property, the same thing that happened here will happen. Where are you hiding Brums and a building full of rats, you know?

Why would they go in your basement to look at damage to a roof though

I'm not hiding nothing from him. He asked me and I told him. I didn't volunteer any information just answered what he asked.. He looked in the house and said is that a snake.. Yes.. What kind... Burmese... Where do you get his food... I raise them in my outbuilding

Even getting home insurance to begin with often requires an assessor come out - who looks at everything about the building and property and what's on it. Getting it renewed, same. They can refuse coverage for owning a pool, certain dog breeds, certain types of out buildings - whatever. The reasoning for some of these is that it might draw people in, they'd get hurt and then the insurance would be paying out.

This is a crappy situation, but you're not going to manage to hide something the size of Burms. Balls and frozen in the freezer, sure, maybe. Brums and a building full of rats? Ain't no way.

That's a bunch of Hog wash in my eyes, Insurance company's should consider in this economy throwing customers away is not a good thing. I would go to the law Library and just check on a few laws about this behavior its just them playing Control Manager and its not right.

I ask again, are the using this a reason to get out of paying for a roof? You had insurance while the roof was damaged, so they should be liable to pay it. They might have the right to drop you, but they are still responsible to hold up their end for everything that happened previously. I'm no lawyer but IF that is the case, I could see that being grounds for a lawsuit. If they still pay for the roof and then drop you, well I think its dumb, but I don't see how they violate any rights.

No they didn't pay for the roof. The house is on a estate and the estate paid for it but they wanted to inspect it prior to the installation of the roof

Too bad it would be so much of a hassle to move everything out and have them re-inspect, then bring it all back. But that doesn't really solve the issue either. Have you checked with some of the online places that do insurance? No sure if I can say names here, but one of them has a gecko for a mascot.
