As far as I know, it was a hybrid project gone wrong and by the time the owner came about, it was too far gone to do anything.

The lighting on the head is incorrect in the second pic. It has certainly been tampered with, although it theoretically could have been "adjusted" to brighten the content, when you consider the quality of the photos (blurry and poor) it seems unlikely. It looks very much like a mediocre photoshop job layering in the BP head to me rather than "highlighting" existing content. The first photo however is either legit, or they did a better job. I'm not fully convinced by the angle of the BP spine, but the lighting and quality are more consistent.

If that snake is still alive, I hope it's a faked picture. If it isn't fake and the snake is still alive, I don't understand how someone could just let that happen, it's sick. I understand animals need to eat, and some animals eat other animals. Fine, I raw feed my dogs and cats, and have even raised and butchered some food animals. I'm a biologist. I get it. But if it is happening in captivity, at least be humane about it!

Fortunately, I did miss that. UNfortunately, I know all too well how true your last sentence is. I only wish stupidity were the end of it, and I didn't have to see the cruelty we're capable of as well, and that's within our own species.

And whenever I do see a feeder ball picture, tons of people seem to be 'happy' and say dumb stuff like 'finally a purpose for a useless ball'.
No respect what so ever. I appreciate and respect my feeder rats for keeping my snakes healthy and alive. I think feeder snakes should be given the same respect.

I'm glad someone mentioned this because that's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this. I've heard of keepers of larger constrictors in particular looking down on BPs, calling them "pet rocks," and feeding them to their snakes saying that they've finally found a use for ball pythons. I think it's safe to say this wasn't an accident (assuming it's real).

It's disgusting. Just because a species is smaller and easier to keep than a burm or retic doesn't mean it should be disrespected and mistreated by keepers like this. Even feeders should be respected, but I can't imagine why you would feed a BP to a burm...

I understand where you are coming from being a bp lover. However do be aware that this is exactly how ppl outside of our community feel about us taking feeding pictures of rat and mouse

    truly disgusting.

i would suggest that a moderator should remove the hotlinked pictures and replace them with regular pictures, so that the people that want to see it can do so by clicking it. i would have liked that choice, with a description of the content and a link to click, the description would have been more than enough for me and i would not have clicked.

if it happens by accident and you catch it in time, shouldnt the teeth be the only thing preventing you from pulling out the smaller snake? if so, putting a flexible sheet of plastic between the teeth of the larger snake and the body of the smaller snake could work, and make it possible to pull the smaller snake out. but then, these are probarbly fake, i guess when it happens by accident in reality, or when a king cobra takes down a smaller snake, it will be head first in almost all the cases.

i heared of one case where it happened by accident because the keeper made the mistake of feeding two snakes together, and both snakes started swallowing the food item from different sides. then, if you are lucky both snakes get stuck pretty badly and you have to cut the food item in half, if you are unlucky one starts swallowing the other. in that scenario, it would also be head first all the time.

so, yeah, the second one really may be fake, others say they see indications of a photoshop job, and for me it seems unlikely that it should happen tail first.

I'd hate to break it to everyone, but having used photoshop for nearly 20 years, I see no signs that these are fake. I can see what may cause the confusion in the second pic, but think it's just a blurry photo. The first is absolutely real.

I didn't see any signs of photoshop either.

It's sad but as far as I'm concerned the outcome was superior to a successful pairing; if this was truly the result of a failed breeding attempt. Neither snake looks of adequate weight to even consider breeding. If this was an attempt of hybridization, whether you're a fan or not, chalk the outcome up to irresponsible keeping.
