Having used foil tape for various things over the years, I'm actually less concerned about it getting stuck to an animal than I am about a corner coming up and slicing said animal open. Maybe I'm using heavier gauge foil tape, but I've sliced my fingers enough times to respect the stuff. Neither outcome is great. If you have a probe inside the tank, either use a silicone adhesive or hot glue it down. It's not a matter of IF something goes wrong, it's a matter of WHEN and HOW BAD.
