humidity and temp.

another question guys i have to heat sources. a UTH and a day blue light bulb. I always have both of them on. is this ok to do? or should i only use one heat source?

It's fine to have more than one heat source. The purpose is to achieve the correct temperatures and if it takes two heat sources, then that's fine.
If your temps are fine without the bulb, then I would just stick to the UTH. Bulbs just make it harder to retain humidity.

I have someone on this forum following me around constantly stating I don't need both,yet both work for me and my set up is fine..I've found ways to maintain good humidity as well and that's with a heat bulb and UTH

Lol really?
That's rather annoying. They should understand that people can use both and both can work well to maintain heat.

It really doesn't matter if you use just the UTH or both the UTH+bulb as long as you can achieve the proper temps.
However, if you are able achieve those temps with just the UTH, then I always encourage sticking to that only. I find that adding the bulbs just adds unnecessary work to maintain humidity.

You also don't want to run the daylight bulb 24/7. You should try to mimic a natural light cycle with it. No more than 6-8 hours a day. I use an infrared bulb so that it can run 24/7 without bothering my BP. Unfortunately, as was stated, this demolishes the tanks humidity.. But thats just another thing to work around :P

Yes,Crazy Monkee,is like stalking my posts,lol,it's creeping me out and she/he is persistent on telling me I don't need both,has told me atleast 5 times when ever I post I have both,yet I still have both,lol,so apparently I am not listening to her amateur advice.

yes the bulbs def do,but especially being I don't have a rack set up or a small tank,but a larger 29 gallon high,I need the bulb and I use sphagnum moss and that's actually helping keeping the humidity up. The UTH will just create a hot spot..now in my 20 gallon long,I have no UTH but just a heat bulb,cause the tank isn't deep and a bulb makes everything perfect'including hot spot being. I have them black plastic hides and they get hot easily..in my 29 gallon high,I have a thick resin yep hide and heat from the bulb can't get through,so that's why I use the UTH.

First if you'd listen.. I said it's pointless to have your uth running at 83 while the lamp is at 90. Don't worry so I don't have to listen to your nonsense I will ignore you.

As I told him.... I never said two are not needed... he was running his uth at 83 and light at 90 and was telling other people to do the same. All I said is it's pointless to run the "hot spot" at 83.
As stated I'll just ignore him instead of trying to help.
