    Color mostly, then pattern. You want a bright yellow, no dark oranges or browns. As far as pattern, depends on what you like. Generally, cleaner and reduced is worth more. Best lighting is one that captures the animals true colors. Usually daylight/ diffused bright lights.

    Usually, daffodil yellow turns bright yellow as an adult while school bus yellow turns orangey. The spine usually tells you how much browning the bee will get - if you see a wide band of grey on the spine, that section turns brownish as they get older. So, a thin or absent grey on the spine is better. As far as the spider pattern on the bee, it depends on preference. Others like the reduced pattern, especially the thin stripes, while others prefer thicker blacks. But, in either case, the fewer black spots the better to have a clean looking bee.
