Oh, I bet you were heartbroken! I'm so happy it turned out well for the little guy, and he is back home safely. :-)

This is probably a stupid question (I'm new to all of this, just got my first snake yesterday).. But if you take a snake outside, can't they get away from you pretty easily? I know wild ones are pretty quick.. Or is it easy to catch them again because they're tame??

What kind of snake did you get? BP's are normally pretty darn slow and don't move that quick. Corn snakes I have seen move pretty darn fast, and I think Garter snakes are even faster! But if you monitor them closely you shouldn't have a problem with them getting away. Sorry OP not bashing you lol.

I say you got super lucky on him more worried about his belly lol.. I had a corn that got into the heating vents and I still have him but for 3 months i was like oh man when the dead smell going to start cause it was middle of winter and trailers are no the greatest warm area.I actually dropped a crews for a computer into the vent while working on the pc and was using the mirror and flashlight to see which way it rolled. Out of the corner of the mirror I saw the yellow in him and was like oh that were he died, only to get bitten by him trying to grab my hand for food. ( he was living off the wild mice for 3 months cause he was just as fat as before he went missing.) the only problem was he lost about 2 inches off his tail to frost bite. but he still with me today at about 20 ears old if not older.

I got a ball python :). A het ghost female, about 6 wks old. I found an awesome breeder at a reptile expo my bf "dragged" (more like nudged) me to. I've wanted one for years but my mom is deathly afraid of them so I kinda gave up on it. But my bf talked me into getting one, and I'm psyched to finally have one.
