Interesting info. I thought all BP's were calm like she is. Although she was none too happy when I would take her off her eggs. She would give me the eye! :tears:

    Congratulations!!

I think it's awesome you let mom incubate. I think far too often, the idea is perpetuated that the female cannot incubate her eggs, that something horrible will happen if you try it. We need more people who take the initiative and let nature take it's course. Sure there are valid reasons to artificially incubate, but there are also valid reasons to let mom incubate.

Very lovely clutch, you should be very proud.

Are you pulling the hatchlings as soon as they're out of the egg? Very gorgeous pied babies, and 3/3 so far is awesome odds! Can't wait until I get to see moms on hatchlings sometime hopefully soon!

Thanks! Yes, it's still a he/she. I tried to pop it but no go. The other two I'm pretty sure are female. I'll be taking them to some friends for popping help. Can't wait until I'm more experienced with everything.

    Thanks Gale,
I really wanted to do it this way from the beginning, but so many people said it could not or should not be done. I was so happy when Quiet Tempest wrote about Maternal Incubation. It gave me the courage to do it the way I really wanted to. Watching MI has been a magical experience.

Yes, I've been very lucky! It makes up for the three eggs lost. Two weren't fertile (should have put them together more often I think). One had a deformity and died in the egg. I am pulling them as soon as they crawl out of the egg, which takes much longer than I thought it would. I would leave them with their mom longer, but I worry about her hurting them accidentally. They're so tiny and fragile.
