Its sorta hard to tell from those pics but that rat looks way too small for her. Maybe she was confused lol

I feed F/T but sometimes my Carpets will take their meal really slow and kinda cuddle with it for a bit. Other times they will hit hard and coil.
She might have neuro issues if someone left her in a cage that was to hot..?
It's also recommended to keep Diamonds at cooler temps. She has a high influence of Diamond. Might be something to look into.

The first thing I thought of was those BP threads that go " I found my heat tape at 130 and now my BP is acting weird" when I first saw it. She's a nice snake, I felt bad mostly for the poor rat.
I will try something a little bigger next time as the last owner said it hadn't happened to him before.
What size would you say this girl should eat.

How big is she?
Carpets can take huge meals but I feed them a meal that only leaves a small lump. Every 7-10 days.
I bump them up to something a little bigger before breeding.
My big girls, 6'-7' get bigger side med. / smaller side large rats (sometimes chickens)
Then get bumped up to bigger end of large before breeding.

She's just about 7 feet. I'm pretty sure she could take a large rat and not leave too much of a lump. I fed her probably a smaller size of a medium.

I feed my 8ft Jungle female and 7ft Jungle male jumbo rats. The female every week, the male every other week, but they are breeders. The last pic of her successful attempt with the rat looks normal for a carpet. They are extremely strong for their size and don't coil as much as some do. 3skulls may be on to some thing with the Diamond temp thing. My Champagne BP and Irian carpet female both did something similar when I got them and both got over it. If was was exposure to high temps for a short time they do often recover from it.

Yeah I'm watching her temps now and have them what I feel to be appropriate. Not sure what they were before they had her in a big glass tank with a red heat bulb on a dome lamp with a built in dimmer. Im pretty sure they didnt have a temp gun like me though.
As far as the constricting, in the last pic she doesnt actually have any part of her body around the rat. The rat is against the aspen and she is laying on top of it. Maybe with a larger and stronger meal she will feel the need to wrap it up. With this smaller meal she kind of bit it and dragged it around a few times.
Ill continue to update this thread with her progress and any updates.

Yes please do. She is a beautiful snake.
I'm hoping she she pulls out of her issue, what ever it is.

Carpets are cross bred with other carpets so often it can actually be hard to know exactly what you have in them nowadays. Looks like you could have some diamond in it. Sounds to me like you might have some jag in it. If it does have the wobbles(neuro issues) like a BP that happens occasionally in jag carpets. That also can give them trouble eatting. I have a friend with a wobbler diamond/jag cross and he can get it to eat but it takes more work then any of his other snakes.
