Not to be a party-pooper, but isn't this what BP.net is already about? The positive, helpful folks far outweigh the trolls, and we aren't about exclusion, even if we disagree with something that is posted.

I agree with this. I know on occasion threads get out of hand, but it really is very rare. The mods on this site are very good, and most members are just here to help other people.
That of course doesn't mean a group like this should't/can't exist. Just as long as the group doesn't turn into a we're right and everybody else is wrong mentality. (not that I expect that at all)

Gosh Anna, way to poop on the party! Jk. Good point though

What you don't want to be part of the cool kids?
In theory the idea is pretty much what EVERYONE does here already without having to be part of a "special group", I also would not encourage people to ask husbandry questions in the chat room for several reasons, primarily because the question will not get the attention that it would get if posted in the appropriate forum for everyone to see.
If the question is asked in the chatroom it will be seen by a small fraction of members who may or may not have the experience to answer the question which defeat the purpose of the forum.

Is this the nice way of telling us to stop??
I wasn't trying to start a problem...just trying to engender some teamwork and cooperation between individual members/buddies on here....
Sorry if I caused a problem :(
As I wasn't talking about just helping in the Chatbox...I meant in the regular forums. I know we all do this anyway, but I thought it would be nice to get a little group of mentors together who could help each other and the other new ones.

I think this is a very good point, too. I have noticed a recent trend where new members are automatically choosing usernames that sound like businesses, which can give other new members a false trust in the experience of a select few. I'm sure no one is trying to be dishonest, and being a new member in no way means you aren't experienced, but it's another reason to keep husbandry and breeding type questions in the more public forum.
Meph - Not at all! I guess I just didn't see a reason behind the sub-club, when you're already here for the right reasons. :)

Not telling anyone to do or not do something if you guys want to have your own group it's fine with me I am just sharing my thoughts on the issues that would arise if people started to post husbandry questions in the chat and the lack of attention that they would get.
Chat is really to chat rather than advice.
If you guy want to form your own group you could actually have YOUR own subforum with your own name like some members do (it's available with the platinum membership) and it can be private too (invitation only). You can use your private forum to chat, offer advice, have serious discussion or not.

I do like this idea but what if not everyone has Platinum membership? can those without that level still go into that subforum?
Also why does COBRA have to be subjected to just BP.net why not have a facebook group as well as a its own web site with its own forum. maybe (forums are easy to start and I could help with that). Also there could be a group of COBRA members in each city and you can have chapters and they can do presentations and meet ups. I can see this actually taking off with the right members

Members sub forum are only available at the platinum membership level http://ball-pythons.net/forums/annou....php?f=89&a=19 all it takes is for one member to have that membership to open their very own forum.
I am pretty sure if a group of people wanted their own private group bad enough the could elect one person to be in charge of that group and come together to get some funds. ;)
Other members participating in that sub-forum do not need to have any type of membership.
