I'd have to say a bannana for a male, being codom he can go along way with females and still hold better value than pieds, sure get a pied female also but banbana and ghi males are the way to move in the future I have one high white female pied I just got today and picked her up for 750 so there value is def dropping, right now it's in a slump plus our recession I don't recomend doing it for anything but the live if it

    Re: What to get?
Yes I am living with my brother at the moment. I have more than that amount saved up that is what I have for snakes. My wife and I are going to be moving back to her home state of Washington in September which is when I am going to be doing everything. We have a rather nice place waiting for us just waiting for it to be finished.

I do like the idea of lavs they are in my top 20. Mojave never even crossed my mind honestly but will now be thought more about. I never thought of going for a black head mojave I now have to see what they look like. I really appreciate all the feedback here and have narrowed things down a lot.

I am going to avoid the cg because even though it is beautiful it isn't something I honestly want in my collection. Same goes with GHI. I am not hoping to make my living off of this I just want to do it because I love being around the animals and it is a good way to teach my son about a lot of different things in life.

Personally, I'd get one or two Mojaves just because there are many great things done with that gene, and I'm personally partial to it. Some other options, given your males, that would be nice are lighter females: fireflies, super pastels, lessers / butters, etc. For the pied male, I'd get some pretty codom het pied females, like pastel het pied, fire het pied, etc.

If you want the challenge of double recessive, lavender albino pied and axanthic pied are both pretty spiffy in my opinion. I'm not familiar with blackhead, but for the pin, I'd personally stick to the lighter girls I mentioned. If you haven't already, maybe also consider a leopard as an option, though that will run you about $1,000 or so for a hatchling female, but they do some amazing things.

It all depends on your game plan- get a bunch of [relatively] inexpensive females (like a bunch of subadult het pieds, plain) and a select few expensive knock outs, or a bunch of girls in the middle, etc. There's a lot to be considered.

On a separate note: it's not my job to question your character, whether this is hypothetical or actual, it does no harm to anyone. Whether you're lying or not doesn't affect my ability to answer "if you had 10k what would you get". Either way: happy herping, glad you're back on your feet.

I have thought about the leopard and from what I understand about them they are all het pied as well so that is an added bonus with them. I think the only reason I have decided not to get one with the initial group is because I was wanting to breed next season... But then again if I get some nice het pieds that are almost or at breeding weight and a few others and get the leopard as a baby it may be best... Ugh Talking myself in circles in my own head here to put one on the list or not.

Just to be very clear as of right now I have not purchased a single snake. They will be purchased after we get into our place in Washington. Same with racks and all of that. The time line for me is to get the rodent racks built and running then the snake racks then get the snakes. After that build the incubator over the winter and next year start the breeding. Everything is starting in mid to late September.

You're the second person I've seen that has said something about all leopards being het pied. I'm so confused, can someone provide me some linkage or info about this?

I could be dead wrong but it is what I keep hearing. In one of the lastest snakebytes vids Brian is at Pete Kahls place and talks about them and I am pretty sure he said something along the same lines.
