Bad season, anyone else?

Well, we all have a crapshoot season every now and then. Either we don't get as many clutches as planned, or we get birth defects, or terrible odds, or not the sexes we were hoping for...

I was hoping for 13 clutches this season and it looks like I am getting 5.
That being said, I proved a dinker with one of those clutches and the dinker x normal pairing resulted in 6 genetic offspring and 1 normal.

Sometimes you lose in one way, and win in another!
There is always next season - remember that, and all is well.

It's a very slow/late year for me. I still have 1 or 2 more girls that might lay, but we'll see. I've also had very small clutches this year.

I find it really interesting that so many people are having late clutches or no clutches this year. I wonder what the cause is. And to see stuff like only 5/13 females laid eggs is pretty disheartening. I'd be crushed on my first breeding season if the axanthic girl I plan to have just didn't lay.

Hope you guys all have an awesome rest of this season and next to make up for this one.

I am not at all crushed,

The girls that did lay have given clutches of 7-8 healthy eggs, and a big healthy clutches are better than small ones or slugs.
I would rather females skip the season than give me a crappy clutch. Most of my girls went through a move mid season so I am not surprised that under half laid.

Every season is different, and girls that don't go this season will be that much more prepared for next season.

I've had about a dozen clutches so far but most have been small, 3 or 4 eggs. I actually had two 2 egg clutches this year.

We bred 34 girls and have had 25 or so clutches, averaging 8.1 eggs per clutch. It's been a great season and we are still getting eggs...YB Sugar X Pastel laid today.

I have had a poor season so far this year bred 7 females and had only one clutch a few of the females are still curling their bowls and showing other signs, so may have a few late clutches. On the good side the clutch i have had its 9 eggs savannah x pastel. Just need to hope i have good odds its on day 22 long way to go yet.

We bred 3 females all through winter, only one ovulation witnessed, and out of the three no eggs yet. My friend who also breeds probably bred at least 10 females, n got three clutches. One cinnamon female laid 4 slugs, one egg. I wonder if the weather has anything to do with it :p
