He opened the freezer door and pulled out a 6qt tub, opened the lid, and showed me half frozen small rats that were trying their best to move and get away but couldn't because they were being slowly frozen to death.

You might not care about these things, but I do. They will never get my business because of this and I try my best to warn others.

I was not aware of that. I feed live rats and raise them myself. Never liked dealing with frozen rodents...but if you feed frozen, and if you get them from a retail outfit, how do they freeze their rats? I have heard that freezing is the most humane way to do it. I don't think other companies are rocking them to sleep, then tucking them in for a long hard freeze.

Most companies put down their feeders in a CO2 chamber (only takes a few minutes) before freezing.

Freezing is only a "humane" way to put down rodents that are in the pinky or fuzzy stage. At those sizes they require such a low amount of oxygen that a CO2 chamber doesn't really work.

Thanks for the info. I know they are just rats but I kinda feel bad when I thump a rat and the snake doesn't eat. It ends up being wasted. I know they are going to die anyway, I would rather they be eaten.

Enchis are cool, I just haven't added any to my breeding stock yet. Their combos are awesome, I just always have something else on my wish list.
