    2012 female blood died unexpectedly
She did not appear malnourished in any way from the time I purchased her (3/24) up until 2 days before she was found dead.

Here is a pic from the day she came home

I'm so sorry for your loss. This just occurred to me with my Hogg island boa. I hope the necropsy reveals something...

She does look on the thin side, but you're right, she doesn't look that bad. It's just very strange to me that she was nearly a year old, and newborn hatchling bloods weigh about 75-100g
I'm not saying this had anything to do with her death, but I was just shocked at her weight/age

Aw, she's really pretty, too. Sorry for your loss. I guess I would think that snakes can have random congenital defects too, like liver shunts, etc. With her small size, that's what popped into my head as a possibility.

Based on the info you have given I would think it was a combination of being underweight and overheated. She also could just have 'failure to thrive'. It happens in all species. I am sorry for your loss. :(

She looks good in that picture. Again sorry for your loss.

Thanks everyone. I saw the breeder yesterday and they said they would replace the animal, they just don't have any more female matrix available right now but should be having more hatch out soon.

My boyfriend and I were thinking of seeing if they could work out a deal on a female ivory or a carpet (they have very nice jungle stock). I will keep you posted on what ends up happening.
