if you pick the jigsaw, you can hit blue-eye lucys and pastaves and also lemonblasts. and, of course, more jigsaws. but no super pastel stuff.

So i would say jigsaw all the way, mostly because with the jigsaw you in the future will hit lemonblast as well as jigsaw, also pastel jigsaw. With the lemonblast, because you already have pastel, all you gain is that you get to super pastel stuff faster. i think a second nice codom BEL-gene in the form of mojave will just do more for the collection and the clutches than a second pastel gene.
of course pastel jigsaw would be nice :) but with normal jigsaw, you can produce one yourself.

First, Mojave is my favorite gene, so I'm obviously going to say Jigsaw. Also, a Jigsaw Blast is really a notch up from a Jigsaw (I was lucky enough to hatch 1.0 Jigsaw Blast and 0.2 Jigsaws from a male Lemon Blast to a female Mojave this past season and the Jigsaw Blast was amazing next to his sisters). Second, from an economic stand point, super Pastels aren't that going for all that much, so having the Mojave gene would probably make more sense for selling what you don't hold back. That being said, Mojave-Lesser is a BEL and you may or may not be able to tell if any BELs you hatch out have Pinstripe also. So you may want the Lemon Blast instead for that reason. Thirdly, Pastel quality varies so much, that I would suggest being careful with Pastel combos. I paired a male Pastel Hypo possible het Pied with a female Pied possible het Hypo last season and got 3 eggs, 1.0 Pastel double het, 0.1 Hypo het Pied, and 0.1 Pastel Hypo het Pied. The Pastel Hypo het Pied is amazing, but her brother, Pastel double het, already seems to be browning out (they hatched in October), so just keep in mind the quality of the Pastel in the combination. You'll probably not be able to know how good of a Pastel went into the Lemon Blast (my sire Pastel Hypo possible het Pied looks really good, but his son is less than what I like in a Pastel). All that said, I still say Jigsaw or save up for a Jigsaw Blast.

Thank you, you make very solid points. To my other original question--what makes a quality jigsaw? What qualities do you look for/ focus on when looking at that morph.

Thanks a lot. That makes a lot of sense. The most important thing to me is just getting a real quality specimen, but I'm kinda fond of the mojave as well. I could do pastave and get both, but I'm likeing the pin combos as well. So many choices lol

Re: Lemon blast or Jigsaw
I like to see the alien heads slimmed down by the Pinstripe, contrast between the colors, and washing out of the side pattern as it approaches the belly. A neat feature is if the dorsal stripe is unbroken. I like the darker brown of a Jigsaw, but I have seen some older Jigsaws where the yellow and brown get rather close in color (mainly the yellow mutes towards the brown). Here is a picture of my Jigsaw Blast and one of his Jigsaw sisters when they hatched. While the Pastel takes away the darkness of his brown, it brings out a nice hue to it, adds more blushing, and should keep the yellow bright.

I was going to say LB, based on looks. But if you can get LBs out of a Jigsaw in the future.. getting a Jig could enable you to avoid having to choose, and to just have both eventually!

Very nicely put! Couldn't have said it better myself.

Jigsaws look okay. Pastel jigsaws are pretty stunning!

Re: Lemon blast or Jigsaw
thanks for all the compliments :)
i just checked, jigsaw to bee is really a hot pairing, i wanted to check the chances for a lemonblast and noticed something really cool... quite a surprising result, well, in hindsight its obvious but still, i really had to triple-check the calculation.
in total jigsaw to bee results in:
6.25% 1/16 Normal
6.25% 1/16 Pastel
6.25% 1/16 Spider
6.25% 1/16 Bumble Bee
6.25% 1/16 Pinstripe
6.25% 1/16 Lemon Blast
6.25% 1/16 Spinner
6.25% 1/16 Spinner Blast
6.25% 1/16 Mojave
6.25% 1/16 Pastave
6.25% 1/16 Mojave Spider
6.25% 1/16 Bumble Bee Mojave
6.25% 1/16 Jigsaw
6.25% 1/16 Jigsaw Blast
6.25% 1/16 Mojave Spinner
6.25% 1/16 Mojave Spinner Blast
15 different morphs and combos (and 1 normal). each one with a 1 in 16 chance. And all the morphs and combos look differently and can easily be identified. Also the 3-gene results are quite hot, jigsaw blast, spinner blast, mojave bumble bee, mojave spinner. Now thats quite cool i think :D :D :D
