I plan to use Vermiculite I use perlite for my crested gecko eggs but saw some people do 2 cups vermiculite then a cup perlite as a mix for ball pythons but I feel Vermiculite and egg crate is gonna be for me. I like the method of checking once a week but if I use a 1/4 hole in the tub would that disturb the humidity much you think or should I leave it all sealed up and only check once a week let some fresh air in then do the tiny hole the last two weeks?

my very first clutch, I used perlite very very wet and the light grid. 6 qt sterlite tub with lid that came with the tub with no holes. my eggs dented shortly after I placed them in the incubator. by the time the were ready to hatch. the top was almost touching the bottom. the eggs hatched and it was a weak clutch. talk to a breeder I know that been breeding for years and he told me to use glad press n seal. haven't had a problem since. that was 07
I see post that some do put a small hole in and have good results. I also seen some that has problems also. I recommend the glad press n seal. you can also put the lid on over it. the perfect condition for an egg is 100% humidity without the egg getting wet.

got my press n seal about a week ago gonna use vermiculite, egg crate on top of that then the eggs press adn seal then the lid and instead of a 1/4 hole every wed. I'll open a crack of the press and seal for 5 min. and let some fresh air in then last two weeks I'll use a little hole in the press adn seal somewhere. Sound good :)
