Umm... you mentioned that you left the food in there overnight. Please tell me that you did not leave a live rat/mouse with the snake that long. If you did, hopefully it was a pup that couldn't bite...

On the original topic, where are you putting the food? I have one that will religiously drag his back into his hide if I make him come out for it. He won't eat unless he's 'inside'. You can always try smaller than what he's accustomed to also. Sometimes they will go after that more readily. Good luck and just keep trying. He'll come around eventually.

Thanks. I only left live food overnight bacause i am giving him a rat pup. Ive read enough posts know not to leave my snake with a rodent. But at this age the rat is harmless. And i put it first outside his hide but he was not interested at all he wouldnt even look at the rat. About 30 minutes later i put the rat in his hide and my mojave stayed outside his hide all night.

Alright. Sounds like your best bet at this point is to hope the breeder gets back to you about his feeding. You may also want to find out exactly how he was housed there and the setup. At 100 g., he's still a baby and even little things can throw him off. Whenever I pick up a new snake, I find out what they were feeding, how they were feeding it, when, what the enclosure size was, hides, heat, setup, everything. I have been lucky in that even though my setup has been a little different than what my guys came from, they all came around and ate just fine but by knowing the background, you can duplicate that at home and make changes to your normal setup slowly should they choose not to eat or have any issues. Good luck with your baby and keep us posted. You've been on the right track so keep it up. :)

Give a thawed medium mouse at night. Put it right in front of the hide and go to bed or turn all the lights off. Do it! ztz!

Should i wait until the next feeding day or should I try the frozen/thawed sooner?

Wait for your next feeding day. If he was feeding rat pups, chances are those are your best bet for getting him to eat. Instead of trying to change to f/t, I would look at the other possible stressors/changes.

I would ask the breeder what enclosure type he was keeping the snake in and try to simulate it. Many breeders use drawer style rack systems where the majority of the tub is enclosed. While hides are great, going from a mostly closed tub to one with hides, it can feel like a world of change and exposure to the snake. In order to simulate that, you can take a black piece of fabric and cover all but one of the short sides of the tub. I've had to do this for my breeding as I use non-traditional racks and both of my big pastaves don't fit into a single hide as much as they tried. By covering the tub with fabric, it allowed them to feel more comfortable.

I'd go ahead and drop his tub size to 6-qts and put him on aspen bedding. The one he's in is pretty big, even if you do clutter it up with newspaper (which was a good suggestion). You can give him a much smaller water bowl, if you're worried about having enough room for everything, and just leave the pup outside his hide again for the next feeding. You could also go ahead and try a live mouse hopper instead of a rat pup, even though that means switching him back to rats at some point. Probably stating what you already know, but - no handling outside of immediate cleaning needs until he's eating regularly.

He is actually the one i handle the least. I have handled him a couple times but not too much. He is very active too. He is the only one that i can catch outside his hide at random times during the day. It seems like he is trying to get out.
