To me a low quality pastel has very little color, be it yellow or orange, and has a browning line down past the sides. Kind of a muddy all around appearance. Pastels with more blushing will tend to look a little better due to their blushing. That though, is also just opinion. Some people like banded pastels, some like blushed and others may like the classic jungle. I have seen very bright pretty baby pastels turn out to be pretty ugly as adults.

For the record the female pastel I posted is an adult and is atleast a few years old and has no "brown." So no, all them do not brown out

I ended up not getting the pastel. Felt like she wasn't for me. Maybe spending a few more dollars will better my chance of producing better offspring. I actually have my eye on a female super pastel. I will keep update everyone If I end up getting her. Thank you all for the advice.

:D super pastel would be better in my book, if you can afford her. Then all offspring carry pastel :P

In the end, it all comes down to what you like and what you'd like to own. We can declare what's quality in our eyes and what's determined as the standard for quality. But it's still up to you in the end :)

Just to plays devil's advocate here, technically your pastel is Pastel-ish since you said she was a WC import unless you have some awesome babies from it,it could have some more to it then just a regular old pastel(fantastic looking snake by the way:D), as for the OP pic the crapy pic quality does not help. Like it was posted earlier maybe a super pastel would be more worth your while if you plan on breeding.

I think this is a very nice adult. It's still very yellow considering its age. Minimal browning.
