I got my first 2 years and almost 2 months ago. When I got her she was around 500-600g. She was a pet store purchase and wasn't even sold to me as female. I have no idea how old she is since at the pet store they were under feeding her.

This is Lily last month at about 1800-1900g:

I got my first bp in 2007. I had wanted a snake since I was a kid, but my mom wouldn't have it. After high school, I had kids and got married very young, and my now ex-wife wasn't having it either. After we split up, there were other people and situations that prevented me from getting a snake until 2007 when I moved to NJ. When I got here, my now-wife was terrified of snakes. I told her that I had waited long enough, and that one way or another I was going to get one. She was reluctant, but agreed to let me get one as long as she didn't have to touch it. So, in October 2007, I brought home my first ball python from PetSmart. She started it all for me, and it was 3 years before I got another snake. Last year, I decided to start breeding, and started pairing with my original girl. She ended up gravid, but became eggbound and died without laying. I ended up having to cut her to extract the eggs, which unfortunately didn't make it either. If you want to read more of that (with graphic pics of the process), I detailed it in these threads...

Oh yeah my story on how I got the snake:
I wanted a corn snake a long time ago buy my mom said NO. and voila, got a job, made money and finally my mom said I can buy one. Drove up to Walnut Creek to Robert Seib's house, picked up te snake and about 26 rats and drive home. 3.5 hour round trip. And now the addiction begins.

Wow! Nice to see some still have their oldies!

I was getting ready to go into the 9th grade when I first got my little normal girl. My dad started my crazy love. He use to tell me stories about his when he was younger. I wanted one bad.

That was seven years back. I saved up money for months to get her. Paid 80 for her plus some small pinkies. She was so tiny that the only food she could take was mice pinkies. I have pictures on the other computer. Now at seven years old, she weighs over 2100 grams. I named her Nacho. She is the normal in my avatar.

By my junior year in high school, I had four ball pythons and two red tail boas (one was a major rescue). Senior year I sold three of my ball pythons (except Nacho) to my mom's friend. Dad kept the boas. Our rescue one passed away in 2010. This year I got two spiders, a pastel, and an albino plus a gorgeous boa. Transmission went out and had to sell everyone but Nacho and my little albino boy.

Finally have bills caught up and will be purchasing my first pied female this month. I have a few wants on my imagine list, but going to have to wait until next year.

This is kind of a sad one...sorry guys.

I got my first BP in early 2010. She was already a few years old...she had been a rescue from a family that got her for their young son...who took awful care of her. She was much too small and underweight when I got her. Within two weeks of when I got her she began to show signs of an RI - a bad one. After spending hundreds in vet bills over the course of a couple months, this picture was taken when I took her back in for a recheck after finishing her antibiotics and the vet told me she was septic and had a very small chance of surviving an aggressive treatment which may or may not work. She was put to sleep that day. Her name was Nexus...because she was the point at which my life came back together...and everything suddenly made sense.

I have never connected with another snake the same way. She was special. When he told me my best option was to put her to sleep...I started to cry. She started rubbing my hand with her nose and slithered up into my hair to rest around my neck. Sweetest snake I've ever had the chance to meet. And I still have her...and always will.

I love the ones I have now...but not like I loved her.

Wow! I am so sorry. That had to have been really hard.

My first boa was a rescue. In 2007, I paid 50 for him at an expo. He was 9 ft long. He was my second snake and he was overly sweet. I really rescued him. He had mites, ticks, internal parasites, URI, internal blockage, mouth rot, sores all over and a horrible infection by his vent (almost in his vent). He weighed 2 pounds when we got him. He was a mouse once a month.

He passed away in 2010 at almost 5 pounds. Vet said it was a miracle he lived that long. He went blind in both eyes.

For being so huge, he was the biggest sweetheart! Kids could hold him with no issues. To be honest, I took him to school a few times as an educational snake. Sure do miss him.
