You are definitely not the only adult Harry Potter fan. :) The friend who gave us the first three is almost 40 and a big fan, too. I thought they did a pretty good job with the movies, considering what they had to try to replicate. Hermione should have been a homelier girl, but Hagrid was spot-on in my book. I definitely intend to read the books and watch the movies for the rest of the series.

Yeah, I agree, the girl who plays Hermione is too pretty, but I still like her. Really good casting choices. Yeah, I know some other adults who read the books too. My friend who is my age is the one who got me into them. My brother who's 31 also reads them, and I got my mom to read the first 3, but she's not as into them as I am.

I enjoy music... I play guitar, piano, bass, keyboards, and a bit of trumpet... Aside from listening to music or playing my guitar I am quite a video game nerd. I have xbox and my roomate has PS2 so if there are any other video game people on here feel free to PM me or e mail me - when I'm not playing music, listening to music, or playing or figuring out which video game to buy I am in class, working on projects/papers/speeches or at work in the library in the media room. When I get time I like to do a little backpacking and hope to go to the boundry waters this summer for about nine days. I t ry to find time to read but I usually don't have time to settle into a book as I am only home between classes and work shifts so my free time comes in snippets. I too write .. but mainly music, my roomate is a classical composer and I am a comm. major and music business minor. (I started as music ed, then classical voice, then got into school here as a composer, then changed to music business, then finally landed where I am now so I'm sort of a jack of all trades.

Gen, i agree the casting overall has been very good. I love the casting for the entire Weasley family and Professor McGonagall is great but I think they could have done a better job with either casting Draco Malfoy or dyeing his hair. :)

I'm another adult who has enjoyed the Harry Potter books. I've been reading them to my daughter, since they were a bit too old for her to read on her own when they first came out. Since then, the stories have gotten darker, so I'm happy to continue to read them aloud to her, even though she's perfectly capable of reading them on her own now. The problem is, by the time Book 7 comes out, she'll be well into her teen years....and me still wanting to carry on the tradition of reading it out loud to her. LOL Think she'll let me???

As for the movies...almost 100% of the time, I'm seriously disappointed in a movie taken directly from a book. Such was not the case with the Harry Potter movies. Even though they can't cram every little detail into a standard movie and they have to change some minor things...I think Harry Potter set the standard for staying true to a book within a movie. The sets and casting were amazing!

Everyone here has such great interests and hobbies, we really do cover a broad spectrum :)
I myself love sports, with a great passion for hockey, football and baseball.
I spend a lot of time attending or watching games. We go on road trips to see our favorite teams play. Those being the Redskins, Capitals and Orioles.
I spend time attending the games of the sports my 13 yo son plays.
I like to read mostly, bio's. Love going to the movies with a great love for horror flicks, with Clive Barker and Wes Craven being my two favorites.
I enjoy watching shows on just about any type of animals with of course repitles my favoite.
Being here in the Nations Capital I enjoy going to many art and cultural exhibits.
And a lot of my time is spent hanging out and doing all type of fun things with my son ( the life of a single parent).
Also love to fish, bass fishing mostly. Use to fish in tournaments but havent lately as my son has gotten older.
And now feeding my ever growing love of herps and wanting to expand on my ownership. What a great hobby!
Don't really think to much on building my dream home as I am usually to busy building them for others, but I love my job.

Sorry it took me so long to respond to a forum I started as for the harry potter series I love it and the movies are just great to not quite as good as the books but still good. The lord of the the rings movies are great to. But the books have been better. Haven't seen the third one yet. I do a little bike riding, hikeing is always good. But I love to cook. And on the grill man I am a king

Cooking is probably my favorite hobby, besides working with my critters (is it still a hobby when your life revolves around it?). Cooking rules. So much effort & time, but what a great way to show someone you care!!!!!! Prepping a good meal for a person means they're "someone" in my boook.

Also looooooooove to read. Especially Louis L'Amour Westerns. And write - do a bunch of writing. And dink around on the guitar & piano.

My hair is my other hobby. I know. It sounds vain & conceited...maybe even "weird" - but is there anything (besides boobs) that is so utterly feminine on a woman? My hair is 33.5" inches long & shooting for 48", which will hit about mid-thigh. Upkeep in & of itself is a hobby - the older hair gets the more fragile it becomes, so it's a focus of its own.

Besides that...getting to play "Santa" on a regular basis....sending someone an animal that they will love & cherish (Paul/beaglegod is a perfect example) is an everyday goal. What a rush!!!!

    Ok...it's late...I'm rambling. Have a good night!
