"Aww, really?" Or "Well, that was dumb. I guess I shouldn't stick my hand in there when you're sitting on the mouse you dropped in your water bowl. I guess I knew that, I was just too lazy to get the tongs."

Usually, anyway. With Mr. Nibbles it was more: "Don't hit the snake. You weigh 100x more than he does, you could really hurt him if you get angry. Just because he's a jerk. Just walk away. He's just a little jerk. I know, let's zap him with the water bottle we use on the dogs when they bark. Little jerk."

But Mr. Nibbles was... special. And he grew out of it after a year.

... where did that blood come from?

I'm pretty sure my spider bit me, but the bite marks were so tiny and I barely felt it.

What are you afraid of? Most of the members on this forum think ball python bites are comical because they are so minor, mostly just annoying. None painful and the bleeding stops within minutes.

I think a paper cut or a scratch from my cat would hurt much worse. If you can handle a paper cut you can handle a good chewing from a BP.

99% of ball python bites really do hurt less than a paper cut or cat scratch. Way less, because they don't tend to get infected.

The 1% exceptions are the true latch-and-wrap bites. Those generally only happen when an animal is HUNGRY, and THEN you made a major feeding error. Both of which are almost certainly your fault... but if that happens, stick a pencil or pen between their jaws: they'll let go almost immediately.

I mostly just laugh if off, I find it really cute.. My worst BP bite was from a 2000+ gram girl and it didn't hurt at all. Surprised me more than anything.

My worst snake bite was from my 6ft Bredli Carpet Python. It was a feeding bite. It bled. Bruised for about a week. But really isn't all that bad.

I've never been bit, but a few years ago my pretty young BP bit my then-7 year old sister when she was holding it. Latched on, wrapped, wouldn't let go. Had to do the water trick to finally get it to release. She had a nice little bruise and some pin-prick marks, but other than that not a big deal.

I have a sneaking suspicion she forgot to wash her hands.... we had a pet rabbit at the time.

Tap yourself on the hand with your finger really quick. Thats about how it feels. I normally laugh, and am impressed how fast they are.
