I'm not against the killing if the animal is made use of. What I am against is the lack of any regulation! Even where there are regulations good luck getting a LEO to actually enforce any of them.

All of you people who are opposed to this, please please PLEASE add Urban Jungles Radio (UJR) on FB! They are the primary group fighting the rattlesnake round ups and are making an impact. Stop talking and complaining about it and get on there and pass the word around.

You have to do a friend request since its a regular page..

Then there's a group you can join called..
    Rise Against Rattlesnake Roundups (RARR)

The two best ways to stay updated on the roundups and get pertinent info to pass along that may change the minds of some of the ignorant and fearful.

Sent an email to UJR and also sent a request to join RARR. Turns out a friend from college is already a member of the group! No surprise that she works with rattlesnakes but didn't know that she was a member of the group.

My job is the only building in a wooded area (backs up to Fort Benning). And rattlers are always showing up at our loading dock. I always find out after the fact that they've killed them.

I can't really argue with it, because they are trying to protect the safety of the staff, but they know I don't like it. Unfortunately, I'm not experienced to handle hots to offer to relocate them, and I'm certainly not going to suggest someone else try to with no experience.

There is one guy though who skins them afterwards and takes the meat home. I still protest it all the time, though I understand why they do.

x2. I wouldn't go killing 50 snakes for meat, that's too much, but I was going to go hunting for a couple of them to eat this year, never got around to it though. Was going to keep most parts like the skeleton and the rattle, perhaps articulate one, mount it and donate it to a middle or high school. Doing it without empathy for the snake results in a cruel death.

I worked out at Palo Verde Nuclear Plant for a number of years and they had a process in play where if we saw a snake of any kind we called the fire dept. and they sent an experienced person out to remove the snake. I don't know if it ever happened but if you killed one the policy was you could be terminated.
