Enjoy it ;-) Went through at the summer i turned 18 (had to have parent permission because i was only 17 at the time.) It'll be an adjustment, but don't take anything personally...they'll yell at you and give you a hard time, but it's all part of the program. You have a kid, so you're ) What were you planning on doing after recruit and basic? infantry, weapons tech, engineering? they will probably want you in recruiting...they'll have to start turning people away ;-)

So she is actually going to Air Force boot, not Marine Corps boot.

Good luck Leah! I know that you've gotten in great shape lately so you should do just fine with the physical part. As for the mental part, like I've already told you - remember that it is all a mind game and don't let it get to you.

Good luck, I'm sure that you'll be just fine! Once you hit tech school you'll have to get on here and let us know how you're doing.

Congratulations and Good luck Leah. I stood on the Yellow Footsteps in San Diego on January 4th 1995. That seems like a while back, but it started me on one the best rides of my life. I have been to an Air Force graduation many years ago, and it was neat. Definitely cool being able to stand on the other side of the parade field.

Keep your chin up, and remember as many have said before me, as long as your mind is strong, you will beat every GAME.

Have fun, try to go unnoticed as much as possible and focus on getting through it and not so much on how bad it sucks while you are there :) Once you get used to push ups get in military shape the rest is a cake walk if you ignore the drama! Best wishes and I hope you have the chance to speak to your son often (if he's old enough).
