so i was just bit on my eye by my ball python... any advice?

I know folks on here sound confident of a good healing, but if I had a puncture from an animal tooth in my eye, I would probably schedule a doctor visit just to be sure. It is your eyeball after all, and you only have two...

He is catching quite a bit of grief on FB : )

We have all been ignorant/new herpers at one point. It was a roommate's animal, there is plenty that he can learn, I think he could use some slack. Better to have a learning experience, 100% eyeball recovery, and gain a new and enthusiastic BPnet member than to chase away a new keeper : )

Ok... I myself have had some pretty serious cornea injuries. The cornea is the clear outer skin of your eye. It will heal very well on its own even if it got slightly punctured. I promise.

I've had glass in my eye which caused intense criss cross scratching of my cornea so severe that my eye swelled up and would not stop tearing for days. The Dr just have me some drops but told me that just like with pink-eye, a simple dab of plain bacitracin gel in the inside corner of each eye every night and then close your eye and move it around, and it will heal right away if there is any cornea damage.

The contusion (the red spot in the eye) will also fade away rather quickly.

Ball pythons have no venom at all. No fangs. Just a bunch of tiny teeth. Eyes are a warm spot that they will zero in on with their heat pits. Arm pits are also a big bite target.

Go to the optometrist, it'll probably be cheaper than an ophthalmologist. You could even go to a mall/Lenscrafters optometrist. If you have medical insurance they'll charge you the specialist copay on your insurance card, even if you don't have vision insurance. The office I work at charges, $60 out of pocket for these types of visits and usually provides free samples of antibiotics if needed. It's probably nothing, but could be something. Let a doctor look at it, you only have one set of eyes.
