Anyone feel like double checking my solution to smell?

Try privately owned pet stores too. I have Mazuri and it makes a huge difference in body condition. The rats are less greasy and don't smell as much as dog food fed rats.

My rats are in my basement and you can't tell they are there however takes a few things to make that happen.

First I use pin pellet in combination with shaving (very absorbent)

Second I have an exhaust fan running 24/7 - This one http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...4853_200444853

Those in addition to regular cleaning and no overcrowding and it can be done.

I cannot stress enough, and completely agree with Deb, no overcrowding! You could have a good number of rodents in an area and never smell a thing if they are not all jammed together.

The smell decreased a lot when I switched my rats to lab blocks from dog food. I am feeding native earth/harlan. The rats also prefer it over dog food and are so much healthier.
