i normally name off personality. it takes a good month or 2 before they get an 'official' name in my house. my first bp was lucifer becouse he was a a terrible snake. hated people with a passion. we have a female named hunter becouse she hunts around her cage for a solid 5 min before shell eat. we have an escape artist named mcgyver. self explanatory. a female named bertha cuz she was 4200 grams when we got her. etc. i could go on but its 1 am and i work at 7 lol. i guess this is just our crazy house.

I don't really have a method. If I'm reading a book series or watching a TV show or movie that I'm really into, I might name a snake after one of the characters.

Charlotte was named because I had met someone else with a spider ball named Charlotte.

Fabio was named after the "I can't believe it's not butter!" guy.

Spot was named because leopards have spots.

Dolly was named because she was such a doll when I held her. Now she's developed much more of a feisty personality.

Chester was named by a user on a forum I moderate.

Yup, we have a method. Kind of.

Species: (ie: ball python = BP)
    Morph: (ie: normal = NL)
    Date of birth: (ie: 2012 = 12)
    Gender: (ie: Female = F)
Additional numbers if there are multiples.

So, if we had a 2012 female normal ball python that was the third in the rack her tub would say this: BPNL12F3

Re: Naming Your New Additions....What's Your Method?
I love to hear where people get names for their pets.
For me I was naming my small animals for singers of bands I like. I started with my Leopard Gecko named Chance after the singer from Skeletonwitch. I'd had her a few days and no name was coming and I was reading an article on the band in Revolver magazine and I liked it even though my gecko is a female.
I then named my hermit crab Bruce ****enson (Iron Maiden). My daughter got her dog and named her Lzzy (Halestorm). I had my husband go pick up a Leopard Gecko I saw on Craigslist and I was hoping it was a male so I could name it after Phil from All That Remains. It was a female and after 2 days of trying to pick a female singer name I went with Phil anyway, though I say her official name is Philomena. We were going to continue the theme when we got our first snake (BP), but decided to go with a goddess and she became Persephone so now we are doing gods/godesses for our snakes. Our 2nd snake (corn) is Juno. I have a new Ball Python (pastel) coming and am trying to decide on a name. Pluto and Adonis are at the top of the list, but I'm still thinking...

    I love hearing about this.

Well when I first got into snakes, I had: Nacho, Chapula, Bell (RTB as in Bell Grande), Enchilla, Toritta, Emplanla (I think I spelled it wrong this time).

Bell passed away and due to financial issues I rehomed everyone but Nacho (she is my oldest).

I have had hamsters, Fudge and Banana. I named all the above while eating. lol

Now, I was trying to get names that go together, but my spider male, Spaz, I had to go on his personality. I had never owned a spider morph and watching him spaz out 'wobble' it just fit perfectly. I also have Nacho, Ava (from a movie), Dream (orange dream ice cream), and Caspar (a movie).

My dog is Bear and my cat is Carmella. Carmella was named after a character from a vampire book I read for a college class. The name was Carmilla but for some I never could say it correctly and always said Carmella. Very different but so is she.

I also named my mom's poodle/terrier/chihuahua mix who is less than 20 pounds, named Cujo.

I guess I have names from every where. ;)

For snakes I like Mythological and Fandom names :'D

I've already picked Calliope out as a name for my female girl :'D
