Hi all, just wanted to update this post. This is the third year we are producing these nicely patterned babies, this year our Mojave male was put to a different Mojave female and we still get these patterns. Guess it's time to put a name to it, I was thinking of calling it the AJ Hook since all of the animals have at least one hook pattern on them. It also seems that the babies have either 2 very defined spots on the snout or at least faded yellow blotches on the top lips.

It does look like something special and almost like the trick. I thought there was something when I first saw the pic but I am always quick to think something can be hiding and I know this. I read all the responses so far but I think you are right that there is something going on. Could you please tell all of the breeding that you have done with pics maybe? Also anything bred to a normal? Can I buy one?

Also if some one else comments that they've seen it before or produced something similar could you please provide pics?

Here is more details: I would not be surprised if this was the same or very closely related genetics to the LLTrick, but since I am sure of the 2009 wild caught female that is the base for this morph, I don't want to confuse people by calling it a Trick.

hand picked out of a batch of 1500 wild caught (or farmed) babies at an import wholesaler friend of mine.

I should also add that I have put my Mojave/AJHook boy to a Pinstripe female and a Regular female this year, but I am still waiting for eggs from them. Hopefully the AJHook to Pinstripe will show us if this comes out like a Chetah or not.

The first generation 2012 AJHook female will be ready to breed by next year, she didn't make her weight this year, and I have a AJHook male from this year, so next year I will try AJHook to AJHook with no Mojave in the mix, I'll be crossing my fingers.

That is why I took 3 years before putting a name to it, and saying it was a morph, you have to make sure it can reproduce itself with multiple females and trough multiple generations. Pastels often have the jungle pattern that is all broken, but that pattern only shows up on pastels, the normals in the clutches still look normal, so the jungle pattern is part of the pastel gene and can<t be separated in that case. I happen to have a second wild caught female that reproduces a constant Jungle pattern, but I haven<t had the chance to see if it reproduces in multiple other animals, and if it reproduces over multiple generations.

I have tried 6 different dinker projects in the last 4 years and this is the first one I can say is a new morph because the genetics are constant over 3 years and 3 generations. It took me going trough over 4000 wild caught animals over 3 years of imports just to find 6 that were different enough to try, and 2 of those projects I have already stopped.

I wish I had access to some imports :( I'm nuts though as I always have to check out the normals in the pet stores for markers and unique patterns. So far only 1 has even remotely made me think something was strange. The flames looked like there was a pattern in the back ground. Hard to explain but it's like the tattoos that have a monster ripping through the flesh, its 2D but looks like it should be 3d.

It's pretty hard to find something special in wild caught animals in store, usually the importer (and his workers and friends lol) have a good look at the babies before they leave the wholesaler's shop. My friend always puts them in a NIX bath when they arrive, and we have to go trough them to pick the ticks off of them and get the dead ones out. Importing any animals over sea always has a lot of loses, like for uromastyx and chameleons you can have up to 75% loses if they took a long time to travel.

You need a good stomach if you want to be in a wholesaler's warehouse when they open new shipments, specially when you're an animal lover. I always want to save all of them, I could not do that work myself.

Oh also, you have to be real careful with wild caught animals, they have a lot of parasites and could carry diseases. It cost me over 250$ once to save a blood python. I don't recommend any wild caught animals any more, and i also don't buy any now, I can't take the chance with my collection.
