    Don't blame yourself, it's really rough when you leave a pet in someone else's care, and they do something unexpected that harms the animal. I hope he pulls through and recovers for you!

    Hope for a speedy recovery for your snake. When I left for my 2 weeks vacation, I just asked my roommate to help me make sure the temps are correct and the outlet is working properly. That's all! No way I'm letting him do anything else. Knowing him, he would leave the enclosures open and I come home to missing snakes. I fed them, changed their water bowls and bedding immediately when I got home.
