Whoop! We got the last egg out!
Hopefully now she can recover no problem.
I think a nice year vacation from breeding is in order and hopefully this first time breeder won't repeat this problem.

I am SO glad that she passed that last egg! I'm sure she is feeling much better already.

Glad it worked out for you. Just saw this thread. I'm glad you found a good reptile vet in your area.

Oh man, you can about imagine the amount of stress that has been lifted from my shoulders. Poor girl has been miserable I know it.
I'm so happy to be done with this ordeal. Now her poor cloaca needs to recover lol sounds horrible. She's a trooper though, my strong girl. :D

This is the first time that I've seen this thread and I'm glad that I got to read all the way to the happy part! Very happy that she is alright and I don't see any problem in giving her a year off! How many eggs are you incubating from her right now?

    Thank you.
She laid 6 eggs, they all candled well but sadly didn't make it past a week.
So I'm hoping this is just a first timer problem and that she's not just a bad breeder.
    She's a reason I wanted to breed, she's my queen lady. :)
If she has complications again then I will retire her.

Mega bummer, sorry to hear that. :( Wonder what happened? May she provide better in future years. I'd bet you're proud of her though after coming through all that. What a tough snakes!

Wow, this has opened up a bunch of dangers involved with having female ball pythons that I never considered O.O I have a female galah cockatoo and the possibility of a egg bound bird is scary. Pretty much what happened to your girl but if you try to push out a birds egg they can shatter inside of them and kill them.

I was so relieved that this had a good ending, and the X-ray photo was really cool. I hope they gave you a copy considering what a Xray can cost lol

I used to breed cocktails a couple years back and I'm all too familiar with eggbinding in birds. Usually proves fatal.
That's probably why I was mostly so worried. Thought my snake was going to die. But the methods of treatment for a snake are much different than a bird.

yes unfortunately in breeding there are always risks.

Egg retention does happen on occasion, I don't usually know what causes it, but it is always stressful.

Glad you were able to get them all passed, and I would take the same approach for next season, giving her the year off.

Best of luck to both of you!
