Will duct tape harm my Snake?

I'm having a dum day apparently. So I re read the whole thread and I seem to be the biggest hypocrite ever. This paragraph will be my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

I took a look at my rack and noticed that I have millions of feet of electrical tape on the flexwatt and also aluminum tape holding the flexwatt down. I'm not worried about this so I must be ok with tape outside of the tub. But I have got rid of tubs with cracks in them because I didn't want to use tape or glue to fix them. So my conclusion of my thoughts are: Tape is fine outside of the tubs but I won't use any sticky side on the tubs.

Sorry if I came across as a nut in my other posts. I really don't know where my brain was at when I posted. Lol. Thanks guys and gals and again I'm sorry is I offended anyone. <3

Yes it's ok to put duck tape or whatever else on the outside

I have a few issues with this.

First off duct tape's adhesive has a rather strong smell... Not something I want around my tubs

I agree that the chances of the snake getting stuck are very low as long as it is on the outside... But there is still a chance.

There are much better ways to black out a tub that have 0 chance of negative situations. Plus duct tape makes a terrible mess so that is another thing to consider.

So to be clear, I'm not saying that I think that there is any immediate danger but this really isn't the best idea overall.

I think it's the backing of the tape rather than the adhesive. It smells kind of like new tubs before you wash them out.

I don't see a problem with using the tape on the outside. If you want to be really careful you can even wrap it like a gauze bandage (Around and around, sides overlap) so the only part that can come undone is at the bottom, where your snake shouldn't be anyway.

Thats also like saying you shouldnt feed live bc theres a chance your snake could get bit. Yes, there is a chance that a corner of the tape could fold up and get stuck to your snake but to me the chances of that happening are minimal, just like a rodent injury. Id MUCH rather cover the tub in duck tape than spray paint it. If you spray paint it and then take your snake out you better not let it touch the paint bc all of those harmful chemicals will kill it! :rolleyes:

That's probably because you haven't seen that "minimal" risk turn into a reality as often as some of us have over the years. :rolleyes:

If you remind me once we get the "canned replies" working I'll show you a list I made of the most recent 19 examples ( at the time ) some time ago.

In this case I don't see it as a major problem but I'd still avoid doing it if I could.

Youre right you have more experience than me so how many times have you seen tape get stuck to a snake in a situation like this? Just like how many times have you seen a rodent injure a snake? (if the feeding was done properly and responsibly).
I know rabernet, im like 99% sure it was her, said that out of over 15K feedings shes only had maybe 5 times when a snake has gotten actually hurt from a rodent. The chances of the snake getting caught in the tape in this situation are probably about the same percent. Id be willing to take that kinda risk lol.

Im honestly not sure what you mean by the can replies thing, i dont know what they are Doc?

A little off topic, but for future reference, if anyone's animal comes into contact with adhesive, massaging the area with corn or veggie oil will help the adhesive detach.
EDIT: We had an escaped corn snake get into some masking tape back when I was a kid, so I have a bit of experience with this.
