    new ball python
Hi, i recently bought a ball python from petsmart, it seemed healthy when i bought it this last friday. I actually fed it a live white mouse the same day and it ate it with ease. it is now tuseday the following week, and i noticed the ball python now has a hissising sound when it breaths. it sounds like a popping sound. it also opens its mouth partially. it seems healthy. it stays in its hide most of the time it is more active at night when i put in the infared bulb. btw day time 92-96 degrees hot spot 84 ambient. night 87.3 hot spot 82 ambient. I dont know if i should wait and see if it goes away and tough it out. Or return it tomorrow for a new python. i really like this ones personality, its very docile and dose not curl up when i handle it? i liked how it also ate right off the bat. no problems with feeding and very personable. I am torn dont know what to do. there is a 14 day cut off and want to return it before its to late. any help or opinion would greatly help. basically is it worth it to keep it?

Not sure why you posted that here. You are sort of hijacking the OP's thread but I will answer it anyways. It really should have been posted in the BP husbandry or general BP section. Sounds like you have a respiratory infection on your hands. Very difficult to get rid of. Most likely the cause of poor husbandry. I'm not saying you caused it. It was most likely the petstore. You need to get the snake to a reptile vet ASAP if you want it to live. Basically ur snake has pneumonia and if it doesn't get sorted out fast, it won't make it. There are some threads on BP.net about what to do about RI's. I'm no expert in how to deal with it but I know there are a few people here that have beat it so there is hope. Good luck and like I said VET NOW!!!

Sorry pigfat for answering this persons question in your thread. But I thought he needed an answer fast. My second guess is a childrens python!
My first guess was a bit unrealistic lol.

    No problem buddy!

Okay, there is ONE guess which has left out ONE word to make it correct!

Another hint......Jimmy Hindrex sang a song that has the word that's missing! That should give it away!
