I don't see a boob egg :confused: Don't ever take anything out unless you know 100% that it's bad/dead. I've had nasty dying/rotting eggs stuck to good eggs throughout the whole process and the good eggs were never affected, so don't worry about that. Those spots are somewhat normal if that's what you are worried about, most likely they will get worse/more noticeable as time goes, but they won't be a problem, you might also get a window from one of those spots. Also, you shouldn't need that press and seal if you are going substrateless. As long as your lid doesn't have gaps it will hold more than enough humidity.

That's what I'm thinking that I should get rid of the press n seal. They are 6 quart tubs from sterilite and the lid really doesn't seem like it is totally for lack of a better term sealed or air tight seems a bit loose when u put it on has a little play. So with this said I will prob. Remove it and just keep adding distilled water every few wks or so. To make sure it's humid in the tub. Thanks again

So without starting a new thread thought I would add it to this thread due to it celponcerning the same thing my eggs. So this is day 22 of the incubation process and from my previous posts I opted to remove the press n seal. Now however I feel I probably should not have done this. This am I checked on the eggs and this is what I found. several dimpled eggs I will post these shortley. I did add a bit of distilled water and also added some more hatch rite around the eggs to boost the humidity. Is this why they are dimpling? I also put the press n seal back on. Please comment on poss. reasons for this happining or is it ok and if you have any suggestions for me. I feel I will probably go with vermiculite/perilite mix next year. and get rid of the hatch rite. Thanks again guys. Wanted to add I quickly candled them and they candle well still with good veins.

You just need to add more water.

As you started off with minimal water levels in the perlite, so once you took seal off it evaporated too fast.

Not the end of world, just add water in all four corners and put lid back on and they will pop out in about 24-48 hours.

Its just not recommended to do press n seal when doing substrateless method as you're able to soak the medium since eggs wont touch it. Use too little with this method you end up with eggs dimpling

Should I remove eggs or just add water my thought was to take out eggs. Add water to a little above saturation of hatch rite then light diffuser again, then put eggs back or should I just add water. Thanks so much for reply. You help a lot of us on here and I appriciate it.

You can do it anyway you want, Eggs are very hardy.

As long as you dont get the eggs wet but maintain 85% humidity or higher they will stay full till last week of incubation. Just start by adding water in the corners of the box. No need to move the eggs at all, be sure water is same temp as incubator
